Sentiyanger Imchen officially took charge as the new Nagaland Chief Secretary, marking a key administrative transition in the state’s top bureaucracy.
In a significant leadership transition, Sentiyanger Imchen, a 1991-batch IAS officer, has officially assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, replacing Dr. J. Alam, who retired after a commendable tenure. The formal handover ceremony was held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima and was attended by senior officials and dignitaries.
Imchen’s appointment as Nagaland Chief Secretary is being viewed as a strategic move by the state government to strengthen administrative continuity and accelerate governance reforms, particularly in the areas of finance, MSME growth, and public service delivery.
Dr. J. Alam Bids Farewell
Outgoing Chief Secretary Dr. Alam was lauded for his proactive leadership during his term, especially for guiding the state through the COVID-19 pandemic and pioneering climate resilience strategies like the Nagaland Solar Mission. In his farewell speech, he reflected on his early years in Tuensang and described his career in Nagaland as a journey filled with purpose and humility.
