Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, famously known as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 36, after spending nearly two decades in a coma.
The prince, who had been in a persistent vegetative state since 2005, was injured in a tragic car accident while studying at a military academy in London. The crash left him with severe brain trauma, resulting in a coma that lasted almost 20 years — one of the longest-known in modern medical history.
Throughout his prolonged medical condition, Prince Alwaleed remained under continuous care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where his family stood firmly by his side. His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, had long expressed hope for a miracle, often sharing glimpses of minor physical responses that sparked both media and public interest.
