Faith Hospital Thief Reoffends Same Night, Steals Laptop and Cash; FIRs Filed

In a deeply disappointing turn of events, the same individual who was recently forgiven by Faith Hospital Dimapur for theft and was even offered free treatment and a chance at rehabilitation has once again committed multiple thefts, including on the very night of his release.

As earlier reported by Nagaland News Today, the youth was caught red-handed stealing medical equipment, blood sample kits, and other critical items from Faith Hospital on July 3. At the time, the hospital administration chose an extraordinary path of compassion: instead of filing a police complaint, they offered him medical care, emotional support, and a commitment to refer him to a rehabilitation program. The young man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, had claimed to be an orphan, living without any family support.

After receiving free medical treatment, he was released at around 8:30 PM the same night, having promised the staff that he would never repeat such acts and would work to reform himself. Watch the report in Nagamese below given video

However, just hours after this act of kindness, he returned to the vicinity of the hospital — this time targeting a nearby NGO office. There, he stole a laptop containing critical documentation and sensitive information, sources confirmed. The NGO has since filed an FIR at West Police Station, Dimapur, in an attempt to recover the stolen device and safeguard its important data.

But his criminal activities didn’t stop there.

Series of Thefts in Burma Camp

In the following days, the same individual also targeted a shop in Burma Camp, Dimapur on three separate occasions:

  1. In the first instance, he stole one mobile phone and three tablets.
  2. In the second, he took a generator battery.
  3. In the third theft, he fled with ₹15,000 in cash and another mobile phone.

The shop owner, who had previously tolerated minor disturbances believing the youth was homeless, has now filed a formal police complaint, citing consistent targeting and rising losses. Security footage has reportedly confirmed his identity in all three incidents.

Not an Orphan, But a Drug Addict Disowned by Parents

In a revelation that contradicts his earlier claims, Nagaland News Today has now confirmed through local sources that the individual is not an orphan. Instead, he was disowned by his biological parents due to his long-standing addiction to drugs. Neighbors in his locality revealed that the family tried to get him help on multiple occasions but ultimately had to distance themselves after repeated thefts and violent behavior.

This raises serious questions about his earlier emotional appeal, which may have been designed to win public sympathy and avoid legal consequences.

Public Reaction: “A Lesson Must Be Taught”

The community’s reaction to the repeated thefts has been swift and strong. Many locals expressed regret that such compassion was extended to someone who manipulated people’s goodwill. Online users and local leaders alike are now saying the youth should not be treated as a minor, as he is believed to be over 18 years of age — and therefore fully accountable for his actions under the law.

“Enough is enough,” said one Dimapur resident. “There are people struggling, but they don’t resort to theft. This person was given a rare second chance and used it to steal again the same night. A strong message must be sent.”

Status as of Reporting

As of the time of this report, the individual has not yet been arrested, although his identity is widely known, and sources indicate he may still be hiding in the Dimapur area. Police investigations are ongoing, and community members have been urged to report any information that could assist in his arrest.
