Skeletal Remains Found in Dzüü River, Kohima

Kohima, Nagaland – July 6, 2025: Authorities in Kohima are seeking public assistance after the discovery of unidentified skeletal remains in the Dzüü River near Chedema village. The remains, recovered around 5 PM on July 5, have been confirmed to belong to a female aged approximately 25–30 years.

  • Discovery Site: Downstream of Dzüü River near Zero Point, Chedema.
  • Time & Date: July 5, 2025, around 5:00 PM.
  • Recovery Team: Kohima Police carried out the retrieval operation.
  • Post-Mortem Findings: The skeletal remains belong to a woman, likely between 25 and 30 years old.

Current Status

The remains have been moved to the morgue at North Police Station in Kohima. Legal formalities have been completed, but the identity of the deceased remains unknown.

Kohima Police are urging anyone who may have information related to a missing woman in the region—especially from Chedema or nearby areas along the river—to come forward. The police believe that community input could be crucial in resolving the case.
