Zunheboto Independence Day celebrations took place on August 15 with a formal program at the district headquarters, attended by Imkongmar, Advisor for Minority Affairs and Sericulture, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.

However, in line with the Five Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) resolution calling for non-participation in all state government functions, no civil society groups, students, or members of the public attended. This resulted in a reduced parade lineup and an event attended solely by government officials. Also Read Nagaland University Hosts Tiranga Rally for 79th Independence Day
