An armed operation was reported early morning in Myanmar. Sources describe it as a retaliatory strike targeting an NSCN-YA camp in the Khamti region.

According to information received, a Mobile-6 unit launched the operation at around 6:00 a.m. (Myanmar time) against a jungle camp located at the 18-Mile area between Taka and Nampha. The camp was reportedly overrun during the action. Also Read Nagaland News Today – Trusted Local News from Nagaland

Sources claimed that the operation resulted in casualties among NSCN-YA cadres. Control of the camp was taken. However, due to the remoteness of the area and communication constraints, independent verification of casualty figures remains unavailable at the time of reporting.

No official statement has yet been issued by authorities or the groups involved. Communication difficulties from the border area have delayed confirmation of details related to the scale of the operation and its aftermath. More information is expected as access to the area improves. Also Read ULFA & NSCN Condemn Alleged Army Drone Strikes

Observers note that such incidents highlight the fragile security situation along the India–Myanmar border. Armed groups operate in close proximity to civilian settlements. Continued clashes raise concerns over escalation and the potential impact on local communities.

Background to the Incident

The reported operation follows a deadly incident on January 9, 2026, at Khamtiang Village in the Pangsau area of Myanmar. Two NSCN-K cadres were killed in a mortar attack inside a village church compound. That incident significantly heightened tensions among rival Naga armed factions. It is now being cited as the trigger for the latest retaliatory action. Read the full report here
