In a significant Phek POCSO conviction, the Special Court in Phek district has sentenced an accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This followed a detailed investigation conducted by Phek Police.

The case originated on February 12, 2025, after a written complaint was submitted by a resident of Chozuba town alleging repeated sexual assault of a minor girl. According to the complaint, the abuse resulted in the victim becoming pregnant at the age of 14.

Case Registration and Investigation

The accused was identified as Pulekhoyi Tetseo, who was related to the victim and had been keeping her as his adopted daughter. In connection with the complaint, Women Police Station Case No. 0001/2025 was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Phek Police stated that the case was investigated meticulously, with due attention to forensic and circumstantial evidence. All necessary procedures were followed to ensure that the investigation was comprehensive and legally sound.

Court Verdict and Sentencing

Phek Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding women and children in the district, emphasizing that crimes against minors will be dealt with strictly under the law. Authorities also acknowledged the coordinated efforts of the Investigating Officer, Sakhi One Stop Centre Phek, the District Administration, the prosecution team, and the witnesses whose cooperation ensured that justice was delivered.
