Naga YouTuber Franky Kikon, widely known as YFK, was allegedly assaulted by a non-local man and his wife at NST Colony in Wokha, Nagaland. The incident occurred on the night of 24 November 2025. It quickly triggered public outrage after YFK uploaded a detailed video recounting the assault and explaining how it began.
Cash Exchange Request Turns Into Altercation
According to Franky’s statement in his YouTube video, the altercation began when he urgently needed ₹200 in cash. Many shops usually help locals with small cash exchanges through digital payments. He approached a nearby store to request ₹200 in cash in exchange for a Google Pay transfer.
The shop, run by a non-local man married to a Lotha Naga woman, reportedly told him they did not have cash available at that moment. Also Read Local, Non-Local Clash in Kohima Over Carpet Price
Franky admitted that he became frustrated and muttered in Nagamese, “laura iman konjuse,” which loosely means “so stingy.” However, the shopkeeper allegedly reacted aggressively. Franky claimed that the man suddenly grabbed his T-shirt, held him by the neck, and repeatedly punched him. This left his face swollen and marks around his neck.
Physical Assault Reportedly Left Visible Injuries
The YouTuber added that the blows to the back of his head triggered an old childhood injury, leaving him unwell even after the incident. Despite apologizing to the couple immediately for using the phrase, he said the situation escalated further instead of calming down.
According to his account, the couple did not accept his apology. Instead, the wife allegedly threatened to kill him if he ever returned to their shop or was seen nearby. Franky said he repeatedly begged them to stop hitting him. He avoided retaliating physically, fearing the situation could worsen. Also Read Dimapur Muslims Told Not to Shelter Evictees from Assam
Franky Unsure About Filing an FIR
In his video, Franky openly acknowledged that he was wrong to use the phrase. He accepted responsibility for verbally provoking the situation. However, he expressed uncertainty about whether he should file an FIR. He explained that although his words were inappropriate, they did not justify a violent attack. He also feared the situation could legally turn against him because he admitted to being the first to use the offensive remark.
Public Strongly Supports Filing an FIR
Once the video was posted, it spread quickly across Nagaland and drew strong reactions from the public. Many viewers urged him to file an FIR. They argued that verbal frustration, especially a commonly used Nagamese expression, does not justify physical assault. Others noted that Franky apologised immediately. Yet, the couple allegedly continued attacking him and issued death threats, which further crossed legal and moral boundaries. Also Read RANPO Defends Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton
Several comments highlighted that the matter could have been resolved through a simple conversation. The couple’s response, however, was excessive and disproportionate. Concerns were also raised about the alleged threats made not only to Franky but also to his friends and relatives.
Growing Calls for Community Intervention
The incident has evolved into a broader community discussion on assault, verbal misunderstandings, and the need for peaceful conflict resolution. Many have called for community leaders to intervene and urged authorities to take the matter seriously if a formal complaint is lodged.
As of now, Franky has not confirmed whether he will proceed with filing an FIR, but the growing public support may influence his next steps.
