The NNPGs Press Statement issued by the Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on February 10, 2026, welcomed the February 5 tripartite agreement signed between the Government of India, the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO), and the Nagaland State Government, while reiterating that the broader Indo-Naga talks have already concluded and now await final political endorsement.
Hope Rekindled in Eastern Nagaland
The Working Committee described the tripartite agreement as a timely correction of historical injustices faced by Eastern Nagas for decades. It stated that the development has rekindled hope across the region and reaffirmed the supremacy of the people’s will.
According to the statement, the agreement must translate into meaningful administrative and economic reforms on the ground. Also Read Why Nagaland Citizens Fear Reporting Crime
Call for Transparent Implementation Mechanism
The WC, NNPGs emphasized that the new arrangement must address long-standing governance and developmental lapses. It urged Eastern Nagas to establish a transparent and independent mechanism to ensure effective implementation.
The group stressed that agreements must not remain symbolic but should produce tangible transformation and measurable outcomes.
Larger Indo-Naga Political Issue Still Central
While acknowledging the announcement of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), the statement reminded stakeholders that the larger Indo-Naga political issue encompasses the entire Naga ancestral homeland. Also Read Retaliatory Strike Reported on NSCN-YA Camp in Myanmar
It noted that formal negotiations concluded on October 31, 2019, and that the negotiated charters have already been placed before India’s Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
The “Status Paper,” it said, includes Nagas of Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Agreed Position Must Not Be Diluted
The WC, NNPGs maintained that the Indo-Naga talks have officially concluded and all core political matters have been thoroughly deliberated. It stated that any attempt to downgrade or dilute the “Agreed Position” would be unacceptable. Also Read Proclamation Issued Against Niki Sumi President NSCN K
The group added that if the Nagaland State Government chooses to pursue a separate agenda or seek a new interlocutor, that would be a separate matter.
Call for Final Political Agreement
Concluding the statement, the Working Committee urged the Government of India to move to the final stage the formal announcement and signing of the Political Agreement in line with the negotiated and agreed terms.
It said this step remains the only rational and practical path toward lasting and peaceful coexistence.
