📌 Update (July 21, 2025): Nagaland Commissioner’s office issues statewide advisory over potential influx of illegal immigrants due to eviction drives in Assam.

The Government of Nagaland has issued an official advisory urging heightened vigilance across districts in response to potential cross-border movement of illegal immigrants following an eviction drive in neighboring Assam.

According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Commissioner, all Deputy Commissioners in Nagaland have been instructed to adopt proactive and preventive measures to counter any possible influx of illegal immigrants into the state. The directive follows concerns that individuals displaced by the eviction operations in Assam might attempt to enter Nagaland.

“There is apprehension/risk that some displaced individuals may attempt to cross into our State,” stated the official communication.

Statewide Vigilance Strengthened

The advisory, signed by Joint Commissioner Nokchasashi NCS, calls for all district-level administrators to enforce strict monitoring and border vigilance. Authorities are to prevent unauthorized entry into Nagaland’s territory and uphold the demographic integrity of the state.

“This proactive approach is crucial for maintaining law and order and for safeguarding the demographic integrity of our State,” the advisory emphasized.

The eviction operations referenced are being conducted by the Assam government, targeting settlements allegedly occupied by illegal immigrants. Such developments have sparked concerns in Nagaland over potential spillovers, prompting immediate administrative action. Also read 100 Volunteers Deployed to Enforce ILP in Mon District
