The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has strongly criticized the reported disruption allegedly caused by members of the Indian National Congress during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on February 20.
In a press communiqué issued from its Central Headquarters in Kohima on February 21, the NPF expressed “strong disapproval” over the incident, describing the interruption of the summit as unfortunate and ill-timed.
Respect for Democratic Rights, But With Responsibility
The party clarified that it fully respects the democratic right to protest and acknowledges dissent as a fundamental aspect of India’s democratic framework. However, it stressed that interrupting a global summit at a time when India is presenting its technological advancements to the international community could undermine the country’s image. According to the NPF, such actions risk distracting from India’s strategic priorities and weakening the message of innovation, stability, and policy commitment that the nation seeks to project on the global stage.
Summit Was a Government Programme, Not a Party Event
The NPF highlighted that the India AI Impact Summit 2026 was an official Government of India programme and not a political party event. The summit reportedly brought together international delegates, technology leaders, investors, and policymakers, serving as a platform to showcase India’s leadership in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The party emphasized that international forums of this nature should not be used for partisan confrontation.
Appeal for Political Restraint
Calling for restraint, the NPF appealed to all political parties to express disagreements through constitutional mechanisms such as Parliament and other established democratic institutions. Also Read Neiphiu Rio: Nagaland’s Longest-Serving and Most Influential CM
“National interest must always take precedence over party politics,” the statement said, urging stakeholders to uphold the dignity of democratic processes and act in ways that safeguard and strengthen India’s global standing.
