Faith Hospital Thief Caught and Forgiven; Management Plans to Send Him to Rehab
Dimapur | July 3, 2025 — In a rare act of compassion, the management of Faith Hospital, Dimapur has chosen to forgive a thief who broke into the hospital’s OPD block last month and stole several items. The incident occurred on June 20, when the man entered a doctor’s chamber and took away a smartphone, an infrared thermometer, and candies, with the total value of the stolen goods estimated between ₹20,000 and ₹50,000.
Following the theft, Faith Hospital offered a ₹50,000 reward to anyone who could provide credible information about the suspect. The breakthrough came thanks to the Voice of Nagaland team, who acted on intelligence provided by their subscribers. The accused, whose name has been withheld for privacy, was located and persuaded by the team to come forward voluntarily.
The thief, a 18-year-old drug addict, reportedly began substance abuse in 2019. He is also an orphan, having lost both parents during childhood. According to his own confession, this was the first time he committed theft, claiming he was driven by desperation due to severe drug dependency and had no other means to afford substances.
This evening, on July 3, the man was brought to Faith Hospital to personally apologize to the staff and management. Instead of pressing charges, the hospital chose to forgive him, stating that “everyone deserves a second chance.” The hospital authorities further revealed that they are now in the process of arranging for his rehabilitation, although he has not yet been admitted to any rehab center as of this evening.
The hospital management expressed their hope that by offering support rather than punishment, the man might be able to turn his life around. Plans are actively underway to enroll him in a drug rehabilitation program at the earliest opportunity.
The gesture has received praise from the public, with many lauding the hospital’s human-first approach and its commitment to restorative justice and mental health care.
