People driving to Dimapur Airport in Nagaland are often unsure whether parking fees are charged or if short visits are free. The airport follows a mixed parking system. Vehicles are allowed limited free access, after which fixed charges apply. This is in line with Airport Authority of India (AAI) norms.
Under the current arrangement, vehicles entering the airport premises for quick pick-up or drop-off are allowed up to five minutes of free time. Drivers who enter and exit within this period are not required to pay any parking fee. However, if a vehicle stays beyond five minutes, parking charges become applicable based on the type of vehicle. Parking Charges Applied After Free Time
According to the official parking toll board displayed at the airport, parking fees are collected per entry once the free time limit is crossed. The charges currently listed are:
- Private Car: ₹40 per trip
- Two-Wheeler: ₹15 per trip
- Commercial Taxi / Auto: ₹50 per trip
- AAI-Authorised Commercial Vehicle: ₹35 per trip
- Medium / Light Goods Vehicle: ₹80 per trip
- Truck / Bus: ₹250 per trip
These charges apply regardless of how long the vehicle remains inside the airport after the free five-minute period. Also Read Surumi Servants of God: Global Missionaries, Pastors & Theologians
Conditions for Exemption
The notice further states that government vehicles are exempted from parking charges. This is provided they have valid government registration numbers and are used strictly for official purposes. All other vehicles, including private cars and taxis, are required to pay once the free time is exceeded.
What Drivers Should Keep in Mind
For regular airport users — especially those dropping or picking up family members — understanding the five-minute free window is important. Even a short delay beyond this limit can result in parking charges. Fees are applied per entry and not by duration. Also Read Why Nagaland Citizens Fear Reporting Crime
