A one-day consumer rights and protection awareness program was organized at Zunheboto Government College by the Green Club Zunheboto, in collaboration with the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Nagaland.
The resource person, Advocate Tovi Z. Yeptho, highlighted the various consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act of 1986 and the amended Act of 2019. Addressing the students, he emphasized the importance of being alert, wise, and proactive in protecting consumers against exploitation. During the session, a step-by-step process for filing a complaint for consumer redressal was presented to the participants. Advocate Yeptho further encouraged students to visit the department office to learn more about consumer rights and protection, and also avail printed copies of the Consumer Protection Act.
Earlier, Tavinto K. Sumi, President of Green Club Zunheboto, chaired the program. The Green Club also expressed gratitude to the college authority for facilitating the event, and to MLA & Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) and Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LM&CP), KT Sukhalu, for his keen interest and sponsorship in promoting consumer protection and rights in Zunheboto.
