Nagaland: June 30 2025 – The Rukizu Youth Organisation (RYO) and the Rukizu Colony Council express grave concern and profound condemnation over the disturbing case of child abuse involving an 11-year-old girl allegedly subjected to repeated physical and mental torture by her foster mother, Mrs. Thukungolu, wife of Mr. Vezovoyi Hiesu, a resident of Rukizu Colony.

This incident has been brought to the attention of both bodies with credible observations and visible evidence of severe assault, including bruises and injuries sustained by the child. The victim is reportedly living under constant emotional distress and fear, threatened into silence by her foster guardian.

Such inhumane and unlawful behavior not only violates the fundamental rights of the child but also gravely tarnishes the moral fabric and collective conscience of the community. The RYO and the colony leadership are deeply shocked and enraged by this heinous act, which is entirely unacceptable in a civilised society.

In response, the Rukizu Colony has taken firm action. After thorough deliberation, Mrs. Thukungolu has been permanently expelled from the colony. She is henceforth barred from participating in any community activities or accessing shared facilities with immediate effect.

We stand in solidarity with this decision and strongly urge the law enforcement authorities to take immediate and strict legal action against the accused. Justice must prevail, and such cruelty must not go unpunished.

The RYO and the Rukizu Colony Council extend heartfelt sympathy and support to the victim and her family. We pray that such incidents never recur in our community.
