Authorities have declared Chümoukedima Red Zone on March 6, 2026. This is part of enhanced security arrangements during a VVIP transit journey through the district.

According to an order issued by the Dimapur Police, the temporary restrictions are intended to strengthen security measures. These will be enforced during the movement of a high-profile dignitary in the area. Also Read Chümoukedima Councils Want Ceasefire Rules Fixed

Drone Ban and Airspace Restrictions

Under the order, areas within Chümoukedima District have been declared a “Red Zone” (No Fly Zone). This restriction lasts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on March 6, 2026.

The directive prohibits the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), drones, or any similar aerial devices during the specified period.

The order has been issued under provisions of the Drone Rules 2021 and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023. The intention is to prevent potential security risks during the VVIP transit.

Restrictions on Firing Practice and Firecrackers

In addition to the drone ban, authorities have also restricted several activities during the same time frame, including:

  • Firing practice by security forces, civil police, central police, or private firing ranges
  • Use of licensed firearms by civilians
  • Bursting of firecrackers

These restrictions will remain in force between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM on March 6. Also Read Non-Local Beats Naga Manu at Dimapur Petrol Pump Purana Bazar

Visit Linked to Major Official Event

Although the police order refers only to a VVIP transit, multiple official sources indicate that the security measures are connected to the visit of C. P. Radhakrishnan to the Northeast.

The Vice President is scheduled to undertake his maiden visit to the Northeastern states of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. This visit will be from March 6 to March 8, 2026.

During his visit to Nagaland, he is expected to attend the 8th Convocation of Nagaland University as the chief guest. This event takes place at its Lumami campus in Zunheboto district.

Officials said the VVIP’s arrival is likely to take place through Dimapur Airport,. This will be followed by road transit through or near Chümoukedima district. Accordingly, this explains the heightened security arrangements.

Public Notification

Authorities stated that the order has been issued due to urgent security requirements and cannot be served individually to all concerned persons.

Therefore, the directive will be communicated to the public through media publication. Copies will also be displayed on notice boards at police offices and stations. Also Read Dimapur Airport Parking Fees: What Car Owners Should Know

Residents and visitors have been advised to cooperate with authorities. They should strictly follow the restrictions to ensure smooth security arrangements during the VVIP movement.
